Welcome to elh.info
This site provides a forum for local groups and individuals with an interest in, and passion for East Lothian's heritage, both natural and cultural.
Local heritage groups have developed their own sections of the site. This not only gives groups the opportunity to share information, announce events such as talks, workshops, visits and other activities but a chance to have wider discussions about how best to preserve, promote and celebrate East Lothian's history and environment.
This website is also a way for interested individuals to find out more about local heritage groups, such as history societies. If you are interested in the heritage of East Lothian, want to find out about local heritage groups in the area and want to meet and make new friends, then you have come to the right place.
Are you interested in local history, family history or historic gardens? Follow the links on the left hand side to find out more about groups operating in the county, what they do and when they meet.
More local heritage group pages to be added so please visit us again to keep up to date with heritage groups, events and news items.
What do we mean by Heritage?
Heritage includes not only historic artefacts, archaeological sites and listed buildings, but also cultural traditions, the natural environment, gardens and designed landscapes. In short, the whole of what makes up the East Lothian that we have inherited - created, moulded and changed by past generations.
Who can take part?
