Monthly Talks
We offer a series of talks each year, from September to April. The talks are held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Our Lady of the Waves Church Hall.
They normally last from 45 minutes to 1 hr, doors open 7pm, speaker starts at 7.30 pm .
Subjects are generally of a local history nature. Past topics include Archaeology, Archives, Battles, Fisheries, Farming, Digitisation projects and Museums. Any suggestions for future talks are always appreciated.
The Local History Room
The Society occupies a room in Dunbar Town House Museum, courtesy of East Lothian Museum Service. Here we have a large collection of archives including photographs, documents and maps. Volunteers are on hand to research current projects or to answer visitors’ queries on local history. The Local History Room is open April- Oct from 12.30-4.30 and Nov-March from 2-4.30. We would stress however that as the room is staffed by volunteers, it would be advisable to telephone in advance to check that someone will be available to help with enquiries.
(Due to internal reconstruction works, the Town house will be closed from the end of October 2009 until further notice)
